DLSS3: in recent years the video game industry has gone through an unprecedented technological change, with new generations of consoles and ever more powerful graphics cards. Among the most significant innovations, DLSS 3 (Deep Learning Super Sampling) stands out: a technology built by NVIDIA that promises to change the way we play the games we love. In this article we look at what DLSS 3 actually is and how it is changing the landscape of video games.
DLSS 3 is a milestone in the evolution of video games, showing what artificial intelligence can do for the experience of playing. Being able to raise performance and graphic quality is a win both for the people who make games and for the people who play them, with a deeper and more involving experience. With DLSS 3 and the innovations still to come, the future of video games looks bright and full of promise for everyone who loves this fascinating virtual world.

DLSS 3 is the third round of the Deep Learning Super Sampling technology from NVIDIA. It is designed to raise the performance and the graphic quality of games dramatically, through artificial intelligence. The idea behind DLSS is fairly simple and incredibly powerful: with a trained neural network, the system can scale up graphics rendered at a lower resolution and then take the blur away, for sharper, more detailed images. That lets the GPU work under a lighter load and still deliver better, steadier performance.
DLSS 3 works by joining artificial intelligence with the computing power of NVIDIA graphics cards. During training it is fed a huge amount of data, low-resolution images and high-resolution ones. The neural network is taught how to upscale intelligently, keeping the quality of the image while the resolution goes up.
Once trained, the neural network runs in the graphics card itself. When a game supports DLSS 3, the GPU uses that network to scale the frames the game generates up from a lower resolution, keeping the level of detail. Then DLSS 3 applies intelligent anti-aliasing to take away as much of the blur of traditional upscaling as it can, for a final image that is much clearer and more defined.
DLSS 3 brings a number of benefits, both to the people who make games and to the people who play them:
